Steve Lawson Start 2021 listening to this. The perfect soundtrack to hoping for a year of calm and steady progress towards a world that's inhabitable again. Optimistic without being sentimental. And exquisitely well played.

about

This album was recorded in September 2007. We always record our CD's ourselves and, as always, we had sought out a room we liked to work in. This time it had white stonewalls, an old wooden floor and, of course, a very comfortable sofa - the right ambience for creating music and a new album.
We worked very intensely for ten days, often until very late at night, and only went out to eat. When we were satisfied with the recordings we rigged down the equipment and went back to our lives. Johan to Katrineholm, where he lived at the time, Fredrik went travelling to Algeria and Björn to his home in Bern.
A few months later Björn called and said that there had been a burglary in his apartment. Thieves broke in during the night while he was sleeping and stole his computer and the hard-drives where all our recordings were stored. Trembling we contacted the police to help us find our stolen music, but soon we realized that it was lost forever. We were crushed. Would we have to record the whole CD again? Living in different countries and with fully booked agendas it would take a long time before we could get together and record again. The biggest challenge though, would be to overcome the mental preparation necessary, and to find the energy, inspiration and spontaneity to do something all over again that we had already finished.
BUT; every night during the recording days Björn had made a "rough-mix" of the songs we had finished. This is what we call a fast stereo-mix which is only intended for ourselves to listen to and ultimately decide whether we are satisfied with the recordings. It also helps us to prepare for the final mixing of the songs. We had lent out the only existing original of this mix to a friend. After some time of searching, we found it in his car among empty fast-food containers and ice-cream wrappings. We started to listen. Would we be able to use this? In order to release it as a proper CD, it would need to be treated completely differently compared to how you would usually mix a CD. After a few try-outs we decided to continue working with this rough-mix and release it.

So, dear listener, here is our fourth studio-album Lost. Not quite as intended, but none the less wonderful thanks to a totally different kind of creativity than normally required.

Enjoy!
